Boulder Acoustic Society Skittle (12/6/06)

The Boulder Acoustic Society are inviting friends, family and fans to help them celebrate their American Album of the Year nomination at their Holiday Skiffle at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder on December 6, 2006, 7:00 p.m. They are having a potluck dinner, raffle and silent auction, with music and dancing to begin at 8:30. They say this about the skiffle: During the early days of the Harlem Renaissance, homeowners would throw a “skiffle” or a rent party at the end of the work week and raise the money to cover the rent. Thse parties always included music and dancing, an integral contribution to the rise of jazz, swing and blues in the urban city centers. The BAS want to celebrate this long-lost tradition with a holiday meet and greet for all the fans, friends and local musicians. Bring a dish to share and your dancing shoes! Also, you can find out about their Album of the Year nomination at this link:http://www.musiciansatlas.com/pages/IMAFinalist/AlbumFinalist.aspx
